Get Paid Testing Android Apps: How Much and How Payouts Work
Updated:
Testing Android apps for money is real, but small and conditional: you are paid for meeting each campaign's rules, not for installing. Here is how the payout is calculated, when it arrives and what can stop you from getting paid.
How your payout is calculated
Each campaign has a price set by the publisher and a tester quota. Of that price, 75% goes to the testers as a group and 25% is the platform fee. Each tester's share is that 75% divided by the campaign quota.
Illustrative example (not a specific offer): a €99 campaign for 12 testers distributes €74.25, about €6.19 per tester. It is not a salary or guaranteed income: it depends on each campaign and is only paid if its rules are met.
When the money arrives: three tranches
Payment does not arrive all at once. It is released in tranches based on days elapsed since you joined the campaign, as long as you keep meeting the rules:
- After 3 days: 20% of your payout.
- After 7 days: topped up to 50%.
- After 14 days: topped up to 100%.
- Before each tranche is released the publisher is notified and has 48 hours to open a dispute if they disagree; with no dispute, the payout goes out automatically.
What you need to meet to get paid
- Verified email: without it you cannot join campaigns or get paid.
- Meet the campaign rules: sessions per day, minimum duration and, where required, specific in-app actions. Installing the app and never opening it again does not count.
- Stay opted in: Google Play closed-testing campaigns need you to remain a tester for 14 consecutive days. Leaving early affects your payout and the publisher's quota.
- Have Stripe Connect set up: it is the service we use to send money to your bank account. Without it we cannot pay you even if you meet everything.
- No open dispute on that assignment.
How to set up payouts (do it on day one)
Open your tester panel, go to the "Payouts (Stripe Connect)" section and follow the setup: it takes a few minutes and asks for basic details and a bank account. Do it when you join rather than when the campaign ends, because if you reach the first tranche without Connect the money simply waits until you finish.
Tips to avoid losing your payout
- Use a real Android phone and the same Google account you entered when joining: it is the one the publisher adds to their test list.
- Accept the publisher's invitation quickly and do not uninstall the app during the whole campaign.
- Open the app every day the rules ask for, even for a few minutes; your panel shows the progress of each assignment.
- Be wary of any platform that promises fixed income or asks you to pay to start: here joining is free and payment depends on each campaign.
Frequently asked questions
How much can you earn testing apps on Tester Marketplace?
It depends on the campaign. Each tester gets 75% of the campaign price divided by its quota; with typical campaigns that is a few euros per campaign. It is not a salary and there is no guaranteed income.
When do I get paid?
In tranches: 20% after 3 days, 50% after 7 and 100% after 14 days from joining, as long as you meet the rules, have a verified email and Stripe Connect set up. The publisher has 48 hours to dispute each tranche.
Is it free to join as a tester?
Yes. Creating an account and joining campaigns is free; we never ask for money to participate.
What if I do not set up Stripe Connect?
You can take part and meet the rules, but we cannot send you the money. It waits, and we email you until you complete the setup.
Can I get paid if I uninstall the app early?
If you abandon the assignment it is marked as failed and you lose any payout not yet released; your slot reopens for another tester. Amounts already released in earlier tranches are not clawed back.
